Due February 10th, it was Thursday, February 7th. Woke up like any normal day, with a few exceptions. Noticed a little leakage, more than normal, and was feeling a bit naseous. Waited until I got to work and had something to eat and still just not feeling not right (and the leakage was still occurring). Called the Dr. to see if I could get in so they could just check. Go to Dr. around 10:45 and tests were positive for amniotic fluid (also about 6-7 cm, was 6 cm the day before and 90% effaced at my checkup). They sent me over to the hospital right then. We got situated and saw the Dr. around 12:30. I wass 8cm at this point. (have felt NO contractions at all) Around 2pm or so they gave me my epidural. Around this time my brother and sister-in-law had arrived.
Around 3pm the Dr. checked me again, still 8cm but at this time he officially broke my water. They started me on pitocin shortly after and that kicked everything into full gear. I felt a couple contractions this whole time and that's because I was laying on my left side and so the epidural wasn't taking as much affect on my right side but once I rolled over it started to even out. Shortly after 4 they prepped me for delivery (my parents had JUST arrived, but I hadn't seen them yet) and Olivia was born with a few pushes at 4:36pm. 18.5 inches long weighing 7lbs 13oz. I was so happy to be able to see her (had my contacts in whereas I didn't with Zoey) and feel relaxed. TOTALLY different birth than with Zoey where I felt EVERYTHING (having contractions for 2-3 hours and getting to the hospital being 10cm already so NO epidural).
We are so glad Olivia is here and so excited to begin the next chapter of our lives. So far we think she resembles Zoey a lot...who resembles Josh of course. I just carry them. :) My parents are here right now and we're looking forward to Olivia meeting her other grandparents in a coulple weeks!!
