5 months

Olivia seems to have done so much for 5 months already. She's rolling all over the place, she getting more chatty, and she looks like she's about to take off crawling. She does this thing while on her belly where she pushes up and then stands on her feet so her butt is in the air.   The other day she was holding Josh's fingers and just pulled herself up to standing positions and josh was able to walk her a few steps. So not as lazy a Zoey was!  :-)

Olivia has been sleepy pretty well...about 8-9 hours then up for a bottle then back down for another hour or 2 (sometimes that hour or 2 is to start with, before the 8-9 hours stretch).  She loves to watch her daddy and sister play. She is very alert.

Almost 4 months

Olivia is now officially rolling over both ways! She also likes to suck on things now (don't see any teeth coming thru yet). We tried cereal last night and she did surprisingly well. She didn't fuss and was patient. She didn't each much of it but we'll keep working with her. I put the rest of the cereal in a bottle (and a little bit more) and she slept 8pm - 6am (with a diaper change around 2am). I have no complaints. We got a good baby on our hands. :-)

Making progress

So Olivia has been doing pretty well during the night. Much improvement! She goes down around 9 and won't eat until 3:30/4. She might wake once before then but just to get a diaper change or repositioned (she tends to turn 90 degrees and gets near the slats of the crib). Honestly she could probably go until 6 without eating....maybe I'll try it tonight. :-)

We are getting more smiles out of her but not as often as we'd like. Lol. She doesn't poop regularly therefore is uncomfortable and irritable and wants to be held. She's usually the best for 30 min after having just ate. (And getting as drops)

She is chubbing up and filling out tho! I ordered some toe blooms and can't wait to out them on her cute little feet!

Progress

Well, for a week there we were doing really good at getting up once during the night. But then regressed to twice.... Olivia would wake up at 1:30am each night within minutes of 130. She would then eat again around 4:30. It was time to nip this in the bud! Saturday and last night josh changed her (really wet) diaper at her 1:30 waking and put her back down. She would go back down till about 3 or 4. I can handle that!! So I think we're well on our way with her starting to get through the night.

Now our issue is with her pooping, or not pooping I should say. She will go a week or so at a time without pooping and she's not very happy. Gas drops after every feeding almost. Pear juice and prune juice and nothings really moving her. We'll see what the doctor suggests next...

Olivia 2 months

Olivia is pretty much consistently sleeping 5-6 hours then a few more hours after feeding. Yay!!

Olivia is 9.8 pounds, 22 inches long and the 25th percentile for height and weight. So she's tiny but proportioned.

6 weeks...progress

Olivia is doing very well. A typical night consists of going down around 930 and waking up about 4 hours later then again 3 hours later.

Zoey is doing great adjusting. She does have her cranky moments and doesn't want mommy to hold Olivia but that's really just when she wants something. She likes to give Olivia her paci or blanket. She is a big helper!

This is my last week home with Olivia; I return to work next Monday. I'm okay with going back I'm just ready too get into routine.

1 month old

I can't believe it...seems like we waited so long for Olivia to arrive and now that she's here, time has flown. Olivia is 1 month old today and doing well. She's has had a cold for a week now but we're getting through it.

3 weeks old!

Olivia is doing great! Eating every 2-3 hours and sleeping 3-4 hours at a time on a good night. :-)

Zoey is a big little helper! She's been a little more needy than usual, which can make keeping both girls happy and satisfied a little difficult, but she's getting over a cold.

All in all I think we are adjusting ok. Easing into it anyways. We still have lots of help with Josh's parents here.

2 week update

Olivia's 2 week check up showed her weighing in at a whopping 8 pounds! She is average on everything...length, weight and head. Healthy and doing well!

Already a week old

I can't believe Olivia is already a week old (yesterday). She is doing great. Up about every 3 hours during the night and does good with wake time during the day (although today she's been sleeping a lot...I may be in for a rough night).

Zoey has not shown any jealousy but has instead been really sweet toward her sister. She eats to hold her (for a few seconds) and give her kiss goodnight. So far so good!

First night home

First night home started out a bit rough...  Olivia ate around 10pm and went down for about 45 minutes in her crib.  She stirred a lot from then until 1:30 (with a feeding again around 12:45).   We tried holding her a few times and she seemed to relax then.  We thought maybe we'd try putting her in the saucer in our room. That she seemed to take to...She slept from 2am to about 5am and that was just a little fusiness and stirring (didn't want to eat).  She woke around 6:15 for a feeding then stirred around 9am.  So, we now know she wants to feel cozy so today we're trying her out in her crib when she's tired (if anything she hopefully will be more awake during the day and be tired at night :)   It's all trial and error at this point...  :)

First coulple nights

First couple nights (at the hospital) went just fine.  Olivia ate around 11pm Thursday night and again at 1:30am then not again until about 8am.  We did have the nurses take her so I could rest.  Mom was so gracious again to stay with me.

The second night she ate around 9:30pm then again around 1am, 4am and 8:30am.  A lot better nights rest for me having my own pillow this time and coming down from the whirlwind of excitement the day before.

Birth of Olivia Morgan Stroh

Due February 10th, it was Thursday, February 7th.  Woke up like any normal day, with a few exceptions.  Noticed a little leakage, more than normal, and was feeling a bit naseous.  Waited until I got to work and had something to eat and still just not feeling not right (and the leakage was still occurring).  Called the Dr. to see if I could get in so they could just check.  Go to Dr. around 10:45 and tests were positive for amniotic fluid (also about 6-7 cm, was 6 cm the day before and 90% effaced at my checkup).  They sent me over to the hospital right then.  We got situated and saw the Dr. around 12:30.  I wass 8cm at this point.  (have felt NO contractions at all)  Around 2pm or so they gave me my epidural.  Around this time my brother and sister-in-law had arrived.

Around 3pm the Dr. checked me again, still 8cm but at this time he officially broke my water.  They started me on pitocin shortly after and that kicked everything into full gear.  I felt a couple contractions this whole time and that's because I was laying on my left side and so the epidural wasn't taking as much affect on my right side but once I rolled over it started to even out.  Shortly after 4 they prepped me for delivery (my parents had JUST arrived, but I hadn't seen them yet) and Olivia was born with a few pushes at 4:36pm.  18.5 inches long weighing 7lbs 13oz.  I was so happy to be able to see her (had my contacts in whereas I didn't with Zoey) and feel relaxed.  TOTALLY different birth than with Zoey where I felt EVERYTHING (having contractions for 2-3 hours and getting to the hospital being 10cm already so NO epidural).

We are so glad Olivia is here and so excited to begin the next chapter of our lives.  So far we think she resembles Zoey a lot...who resembles Josh of course.  I just carry them.  :)  My parents are here right now and we're looking forward to Olivia meeting her other grandparents in a coulple weeks!!
